In a surprising turn of events during the trial of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee, it has been revealed that the official number (0779229900) he provided to the court is registered in the name of a female, not in his own name as Jefferson T. Koijee. This revelation surfaced through the Orange call log, which was subpoenaed by the defense lawyer.
Conversely, another number (0776407969) registered in Mayor Koijee’s name was disclosed to be not in use according to the call log from Orange GSM. Mayor Koijee, while testifying in court, had claimed that he provided this particular number to the police during the investigation into the tragic incident involving Charloe Musu on February 22, 2023.
Mayor Koijee’s assertion, however, faces a challenge as the recent call log investigation indicates that the number linked to him is registered under a female’s name. This inconsistency raises questions about the accuracy of the information provided by Mayor Koijee to the authorities.
In a related development, Maimu Fofana, the wife of Varlee Telleh, has testified regarding the use of a number (0776632470) registered in her husband’s name. She denies using the number to make or receive calls from various locations, including late nights in and around Monrovia, on specific dates provided by the defense.
The defense alleges that calls were made from Varlee Telleh’s number on specific dates and at various locations, presenting a detailed call log as evidence. The locations mentioned include Sethi Compound, Gold Medal Factory, Kingville, 72nd Road, LEC, Banjor, Jacob Town Community, Central Monrovia, Logan Town, Island Clinic, Duala Market, GSA Road in Paynesville, Topoe Village, Salvation Army, and the University of Liberia.
Madam Telleh acknowledges that her husband occasionally uses her phone, adding a layer of complexity to the presented evidence.
As the defense rests its case with the submission of testimonial and documentary evidence, the court awaits the final arguments. The discrepancies surrounding Mayor Koijee’s official phone number and the conflicting testimony regarding Varlee Telleh’s phone usage create a compelling backdrop for the concluding phase of this high-profile trial.
