The National Secretariat of The Golden Image Award for 2023, says the Award which is expected to be a special edition, is momentously gearing up for this landmark annual award program. Founded in 2010 by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace and the Liberia Culture Ambassador, Juli Endee as the Event Planner, the GIA has grown into a premiere national event and is being officially captured as part of Independence Day activities.The Liberia Crusaders for Peace Executive Director notes that recipients of the Golden Award Program are being recognized for their contributions to peace building, human rights and democracy, health and education. According to her, the recipients are drawn from the Middle East, Europe, the United States and Africa, respectively. The 2023 Golden Image Award Program comes at the end of the first six year term of President George Manner Weah. It is therefore expected to be a special edition to recognize international and national personalities, groups, countries, governments, and international organizations that have immensely contributed to the successful governance of Liberia under the Leadership of President George Manneh Weah. GOLDEN IMAGE CONVENERThe Convener of the Award during our Independence Day’s Celebration is always the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah. President Weah is the Feminine-In-Chief, Chief Patron of Sports and commander in chief of the Armed forces of Liberia’ Respectfully Ambassador Weah is recognized as a true Legend, a Leading Promoter of Peace, a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, he is Liberia, Africa, Europe, & World Best for football. The only African to win the Ballon d’Or Best soccer, a recipient of the Golden Image Award 2011’.THE FACE BEHIND GIAThe image of the Golden Image Award (GIA) is Her Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, former President of the Republic of Liberia. Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was Africa’s first female democratically elected Head of State. She was vetted amongst 6 women around the world and won for her bold and courageous role played in ensuring that the rights of women are respected on the continent of Africa and the World at large. Undoubtedly, Former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is an international icon, recognized as a leading promoter of Gender Equality, Democracy and the rule of law. Madam Sirleaf is also the 2011-Nobel Peace Prize laureate.HISTORICAL MEANING OF GIA The physical medal of Golden Image Award has several historical components and meaning. They include: The Globe Symbolizes Liberia as part of the global village. The Lady with the Traditional hair attire represents the first democratically elected president on the continent of Africa. The Map of Liberia with all the components on the Tower- depicts that Liberia as a nation will rise again to be prosperous. The Peace Symbol Depicts Peace with the Global world and within. HON. JOSEPH FITZGERALD KAMARA, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Republic of Sierra Leone served as the Speaker in 2016, while HON. PRINCE ADETOKUNDO KAYODE,Deputy President Abuja Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) & Fmr. Minister of Culture & Tourism Federal Republic of Nigeria, served as the Keynote Speaker in 2017.
